What if the defendant does not show up in court after I have posted the bail?

Cash bond

If the defendant does not show up in court after you have posted the bail, the bail will be in a default status. To get your bail out of the default status, there is a statutory period of time—usually around 90 days. If the defendant does not show up in court within that time, the cash or collateral you put up will be forfeited by the court. You will not receive the bail refund.
